About Us

Three generations of remedy-making.

Maeteria didn't start with a brand strategy. It started in 1987, in a small Mexican-American supplement store in California, where my father took over a piece of the family business my uncle had built. Before that, my uncle ran Laboratorios Camacho — one of the longest-running supplement labs serving our community. He spent his career doing something simple and rare: taking the remedies people already trusted and making them better.

I grew up inside this work. Surrounded by remedies, ingredients, and the long-term trust that comes from products that actually work. Decades before I knew what wellness was as a category, I knew what it looked like when it was real — when someone walked into the store with a problem, walked out with something that helped, and came back the next month because it kept helping.

That's the foundation Maeteria is built on. Not marketing. Practice.

Maeteria is named for Materia Medica — the foundational text of apothecaries, the original purveyors of botanical wellness. It's also a quiet tribute to my late brother, a chemist and food scientist whose work in medical research shaped how I think about every ingredient that goes into what we make.

The name is a commitment. Modern apothecary. Science meets tradition. Substance over style.

Why aloe.

Aloe vera is the most-trusted plant in our family stores. Across four decades and tens of thousands of customers, it has consistently been one of our top sellers. People come back for it because it works — for digestive comfort, for skin hydration, for the cuts and burns my grandmother used to treat with the gel from the plant in her kitchen window.

Aloe is universal. It crosses cultures, generations, and languages. It's one of the most widely studied botanicals on the planet. And unlike most wellness ingredients, it doesn't require explaining — you already know what it is and what it does.

We built Maeteria around it because we believe in starting with what's real. One plant. Multiple delivery formats. The same standard across every product, whether you're drinking it, washing with it, or putting it on your skin.

Aloe, inside and out.

What we refuse to settle for.

The wellness industry has a problem. Beautiful packaging hides mediocre formulas. Marketing language inflates products that don't perform. Pretty faces sell ingredients customers can't verify. The result is an entire category trained to expect less than they're paying for.

We're building Maeteria differently.

Every product is led by aloe vera — California-grown, organically cultivated, hand-filleted. Every claim is structure-and-function only, backed by lab testing where possible. Every ingredient is in the formula for a reason, not for marketing. Every batch is documented. Every label is written carefully, because we'd rather underpromise and overdeliver than the other way around.

This isn't aesthetic. It's operational. The standard runs through everything we do.

People who refuse to settle.

Maeteria isn't a brand for everyone. We're for people who read ingredient lists before they buy. People who've been disappointed by overhyped wellness products and want something real. People who care about what they put in their bodies and on their skin. People who have energy and curiosity, regardless of age. People who trust results over packaging.

If that sounds like you, you're in the right place.

About the founder.

I'm Anthony — born in Puebla, Mexico, raised in California, programmer by day, weightlifter by weekend, founder of Maeteria full-time. I started this brand to carry forward what three generations of my family have been doing: taking real remedies and making them better. Maeteria is what that looks like in this generation.
